We made it to Copenhagen from Spain for dinner with Gavin and Martha with about 2 hours to spare! I have to say we may have taken over the Samuel Michelin starred restaurant for the evening as we talked, laughed and marveled at both the presentation and flavors of the food served. We ended up closing the place as the last to leave with very few staff left in the house. Gavin and Martha were so much fun to share dinner with and catch up on old news, new news and just life. They really love living in Denmark and are working on their residency permits to guarantee they can stay longer term (Some harder than others).
The Danish really emphasize quality of life and it shows. Huge effort for public transportation, many bike commuters and special lanes throughout the city. Lax working hours and evening gathering of friends by the water and street corners to talk over life. Much is also dedicated to raising children in a healthy way and Copenhagen is spotless with few cars or any homeless that we saw.
I got out for a bit wandering around streets and catching the light doing a bit of photography which I really enjoy. You can't plan it, just just have to be open to seeing things in a way that is visually interesting. I brought and gave Martha and Gavin a book I did of some of my travel photography of B&W landscapes I did when I took off cross country in my trailer for 2.5 months many years ago. The book was called "Quiet" and was a chance to turn in from my usual outgoing self and just be an observer of surroundings. Here a few I did that I like here in Copenhagen...
We are off today to Marienlyst, a quiet beach resort up the coast from Copenhagen that Martha told us about last year. It's incredibly relaxing for our last two days in Denmark.
